Notes:
1. Goldwood Yellow was only available on SS series; not available on El Camino.

2. Fremont, CA.-built 1964 Chevelles used letters for paint colors as noted by the letters in parentheses above. Other U.S. assembly plants used either a 3 or 4 digit (for convertibles) RPO paint code. Additional colors were offered on Canadian Chevrolet models that were not offered on their U.S. built counterparts. Whether all of these additional colors were available on Chevelles is not known but many were.
H ~ Skyline Blue
N ~ Sunfire Red Metallic
W ~ Diplomat Blue Metallic #2

Example of Fremont, CA. paint code. Note "CP" for Ermine White (C) upper and Azure Aqua (P) lower in a two-tone paint scheme. The last "C" code is also unique to Fremont indicating the wheel color as well. At any other assembly plant the paint code would be 988.

Example of Kansas City, MO. paint code of 959 for two-tone paint scheme of Ermine White (upper) and Silver Blue (lower). A corresponding code from Fremont, CA. would be "CF C" as the "CP C" code shown above.

Fremont quirks never cease to amaze me. Looks like Fremont made an error on this paint code, "FCF." No two-tone combination of Silver Blue (F) upper and Ermine White (C) lower is known. More probable, the correct two-tone is like the KC example above of Ermine White (upper) and Silver Blue (lower) with silver blue wheels, or CFF. It's also possible the wheel color (F) was stamped first followed by the upper then lower body color. The hand stamped #7 is unusual for a Fremont tag in 1964.

TWO-TONE

Upper
(1964 only)

Lower
(1964 only)

The Fremont, CA. assembly plant used the letter codes for paint color designation in 1964 and the upper body color was listed first, then the lower body color. All other assembly plants used a 3 digit number for paint codes except on convertibles when a 4th digit was added to designate the convertible top color. No Fremont convertible tag has turned up to date so it's not known how Fremont handled the convertible top color on the trim tag.
